NIMBLE, is the Network for the Integrated Management of Brain Metastases: Linking Experts. It has three components. One component will be an educational tool for inpatient and outpatient providers to understand a comprehensive, data-driven algorithm for brain metastases management. Brain metastases have become increasingly complex. There are multiple disease and treatment variables to consider that need the expertise of the multiple disciplines in our tumor board to appropriately render a treatment recommendation. NIMBLE will guide doctors in making the best decisions for their brain metastasis patients. In addition, the app provides direct links to key articles that support the treatment recommendations.

NIMBLE’s second component will be a mechanism that allows our providers the ability to submit a patient for consideration in a virtual tumor board discussion. These providers would have direct access to our team, which has deep expertise in treating patients with challenging brain metastases. This second component will also facilitate faster referrals to expedite patient care.

The app’s final component is a tool allowing virtual tumor board members to communicate in real time to generate a consensus opinion to guide the optimal management of the patient. This revolutionary, innovative concept extends the benefits of an in-person tumor board to other providers when they need immediate consultation for their patients. It used to take days to schedule consultations and offer treatment recommendations. NIMBLE will make this possible within hours.

Our app provides real time, evidence-based treatment plans while reducing length of hospital stay, costs and care delays for a critical patient population. Our app’s smart technology will enhance our cancer treatment capabilities and our doctors’ expertise to make health care more efficient; thus, enhancing the health of our patients with brain metastases.
